Who we are

MyPhotoRace ("we") is an independent race-photography service established in the European Union. We are the data controller for the processing described below. Because we are established in the European Union, we apply the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") to everyone we photograph or serve, wherever they live. Where the law of your country grants you additional rights (for example in Japan or in the United States), we honour them too.

Event photography

Our photographers take pictures of participants during running events (marathons, half-marathons, trail races and similar) from public areas along the course and around the finish. The data processed is your image and, where visible, your bib number. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in offering runners a simple way to find and buy their own race photos. MyPhotoRace is an independent service: it is not the official photographer of the events it covers and is not affiliated with their organisers unless expressly stated.

Photos are never published publicly, never sold to third parties and never used for advertising. They are shown only to the person who searches for them with their own bib number, and purchased photos are delivered only to the buyer. Photos remain searchable for 90 days after the event; they are then removed from the online service and permanently deleted after a secure archive period of no more than 13 months after the event.

If you do not want a photo of you to be available, or you want it removed, write to us at the address above with the event name and your bib number: we remove it promptly and free of charge.

Finding your photos

You find your photos by entering your bib number. We do not use facial recognition or any biometric processing. Photos in which the bib number is not legible may not be found by this search.

Pre-registration and notification emails

Before an event you may leave your email address, first name and, if you wish, your last name — through a form on our website or through an instant form on Facebook or Instagram — to be told when your photos are online and to benefit from a launch discount. We use this information, on the basis of your consent, only to send you these notifications for that event and, if you agreed, to tell you about our photo service at future events you take part in. You can withdraw your consent at any time with the link in each email or by writing to us. Email addresses collected before an event are deleted 12 months after the event if you have not placed an order.

To send you your own photos, we compare the name you gave us with the public results list of the event to find your bib number. When exactly one participant has that name, your notification email shows your photo and opens your gallery directly; a link in that email lets you tell us if it is not you, and we then remove the association. Otherwise we ask you to enter your bib number yourself, and we link it to your email address only after you confirm by clicking the link we send you.

When you use a Facebook or Instagram instant form, Meta Platforms passes us the information you entered; Meta's own privacy policy governs your use of its platforms.

Online orders

You can buy photos without creating an account. To process your order we use your name and email address, the order details (date, order number, items, event and bib number concerned) and payment data. Payments are handled by our payment service provider; we never see or store your full card number. Order records are kept for the period required by French accounting and tax law (10 years). Legal basis: performance of the contract and compliance with our legal obligations.

Who receives your data

Your data is accessible only to authorised MyPhotoRace staff and photographers, all bound by confidentiality, and to our processors for the sole purpose of providing the service: hosting and storage (Amazon Web Services), payment processing, email delivery, and the advertising platform through which you asked to be notified. We do not sell personal data.

Our servers are located in the European Union. Where a processor handles data outside the EU (for example in the United States or Japan), the transfer is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or by an adequacy decision.

Cookies

The website uses cookies strictly necessary for its operation (language, basket, security). Optional measurement or advertising cookies are set only with your consent, which you can change at any time through the cookie settings link at the bottom of the site.

Your rights

You may at any time ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict its processing, withdraw your consent, or receive a copy of the data you provided. This includes asking us to remove any photograph of you. To exercise these rights, write to privacy@myphotorace.com; we reply within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL, www.cnil.fr) or with the authority of your country of residence.

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the current version.
